The challenge

Aky needed a professional personal-brand website that introduced his mortgage services clearly and made it easy for visitors to contact him. The brief called for an original, responsive design that complemented his brokerage’s colours.

As the project developed, he also wanted to publish educational articles and case studies and update website content himself. The challenge was to provide those editing capabilities within a custom-coded WordPress website.

The solution

I designed and developed a bespoke WordPress theme, set up the hosting environment and integrated the contact form, supporting pages and brand assets. I then added blog and case-study publishing systems with dedicated archive and individual content templates.

To support independent editing, I created Pencil by Wasiq, a separate plugin that lets authorised users update supported text and images from the frontend. I also configured foundational SEO and analytics tracking for important visitor actions.

Build With Aky is the personal brand of mortgage advisor Aky Abrol. He needed a website that would introduce his services, communicate his approach and give prospective clients a straightforward way to get in touch.

The initial brief focused on a single-page website with a clean, modern presentation. A competitor website provided context for the content, while the brokerage’s colours informed the visual direction. The design itself needed to feel original and personal to Aky.

As the project progressed, the scope expanded to include educational articles, case studies and tools for managing website content.

My approach

I began by organising the website around the visitor’s journey: understand who Aky is, explore his services, find answers to common questions and make an enquiry.

I developed a custom WordPress theme and refined the presentation through client feedback. These revisions simplified busy layouts, improved service cards, adjusted button sizing and made the footer more readable. Mobile layouts received particular attention, including single-column cards and clearer spacing.

I also set up the Hostinger hosting environment and installed WordPress. Aky’s supplied logo, portrait and favicon assets helped bring the personal brand into the finished design.

What I built

The website includes service information, about content, frequently asked questions and clear contact options. I integrated WPForms, styled the form to match the website and added a dedicated thank-you page. A custom 404 page provides a useful destination when a visitor reaches a missing URL.

For ongoing publishing, I created blog and case-study systems with archive listings and individual templates. I also prepared five starter blog articles and added an importer to simplify content setup. Illustrative case-study drafts provided a starting structure for future approved client stories.

A key addition was Pencil by Wasiq, a separate frontend editing plugin. Administrators and editors can click supported text or images, make changes and save them without editing theme code.

The plugin includes a dashboard and change history showing who changed content and what was updated. Blog and case-study shortcuts open the appropriate WordPress editor, keeping structured content manageable.

I also supported the Rank Math setup and prepared metadata for the main content areas. Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 were configured to track telephone-link clicks, Instagram-link clicks and thank-you page visits.

The results

The project delivered a custom WordPress website with tools for publishing content and maintaining supported text and images. Aky’s website can now accommodate articles and case studies without requiring a new page design for each entry.

Three website interaction events were configured and tested through Tag Assistant and GA4 Realtime. These provide visibility into visitor actions, although a telephone click does not confirm a completed call and a thank-you page view does not always represent a unique enquiry.

The outcome is a working website and content-management foundation. No unverified traffic increases, ranking improvements or revenue figures are claimed.

Next steps

The next stage is to publish reviewed educational content consistently, add approved real-world case studies and use analytics to understand which pages encourage enquiries.

Ongoing maintenance will help keep WordPress, plugins and website functionality in good condition. Final handover checks include confirming form notification delivery, reviewing conversion settings and verifying the latest visual updates on the live website.
